Oral and Poster Presentation Guidelines

The Organizing Committee of The First International Seminar of Leadership and Social Actions 2013 welcomes the oral and poster presentations from participating universities.

General

  • All oral and poster presentations are automatically registered after the acceptance of the abstract.
  • All presenters are highly recommended to attend the seminar and pay the appropriate registration fee.
  • Presenting authors who are unable to attend the seminar are requested to identify a co-author who can present the work and to notify LSA of any changes by contacting LSA2013UNS@yahoo.com.
  • Participants might be able to use either English or Bahasa in their oral or poster presentation.

 

Guidelines for Oral Presentation

  • Time allocation for each symposium is 90 minutes. Each symposium may consist of 6 presenters.
  • Time allocation for each presentation is 10 minutes not including time for questions.
  • Explanation of the discussion session at the end of all presentations.
  • Participants are required to use Power Point presentation files (in .ppt/pptx format) in the form of Microsoft Office 2003 or earlier versions with a maximum of 15 slides. Please note that no other presentation programs are allowed.
  • Presentation files should be submitted to LSA2013UNS@yahoo.com by 5 pm Monday 19 August, 2013.
  • The presentation must cover the same subject/material as reported in the accepted abstract. The presentation must also describe the research methodology, present the findings and discuss the result of the research project. Conclude the presentation with a brief summary of the essential findings/clinical relevance for the research project.
  • Presenters for the oral presentations should be in formal attire and be at the presentation venue at least 10 minutes.
  • Presenters do not have to bring their own computer. There will be a Windows based laptop computer that will be available in the session room.
  • There will be student volunteers in-charge for the session and to assist if help in required.

 

Guidelines for Poster Presentation

  • Posters will be displayed in the seminar room, second floor of Grha Solo Raya from 9 am – 14 pm on Tuesday 20 August, 2013. Poster board will be provided by the committee.
  • Participants are required to register themselves at registration desk at least 15 minutes before poster session scheduled. At registration, participants will be provided with instructions on their poster location, as well as a number. The number will be on the poster board assigned to their poster.
  • Each poster should be formatted to fit a maximum size of standard A0-format (841 x 1189 mm) in portrait orientation.
  • Posters printed on one large sheet of paper are encouraged.
  • The title and authors must appear at the top of the poster. We recommend the use of a font size legible from a distance of 2 meters.
  • Poster content should follow the IMRAD format (Introduction, Methods, Result, and Discussion) and Please ensure that the poster displays authors’ full name, institutions names and email addresses.
  • Audiovisual equipment and computers cannot be accommodated in the poster exhibit.
  • All posters must be removed from poster board at the end of the poster session scheduled.

Call for Paper

We invite submission of scientific papers either the results of research or reviews related the field of leadership and social actions. The paper should be written in English and will be selected to be published in our forthcoming book (only for 20 selected papers) and the rest will be published in the seminar proceeding. Prospective authors are required to submit abstract for preliminary selection.

Empowering Local Leaders for Social Actions

All about Leadership is about influence - John C. Maxwell

Leaders are the most important positions who have influence in bringing the change, because there are some responsibility demands on running  the wheels of leadership effectively. Leader is a necessity that can’t be ignored (sine qua non) in determining the life’s flow of a nation and the state, as well as in Indonesia. Indonesian society in general are paternalistic and quite high social solidarity, positioned their leader as social action figure to be obeyed. This situation implies that both the good and bad condition of an organization, nation, and the state is largely determined by the quality of leaders and their leadership. Simply, leaders with their leadership are the agent of social change.

Hence, the Department of Psychology Sebelas Maret University would like to held an International Seminar. The theme of the seminar is “Empowering Local Leaders for Social Actions”.
